Construction Begins on Honey Brook Township Municipal Campus
Construction contracts have been awarded, and groundbreaking has begun on the new Honey Brook Township Administration and Public Works buildings. Kimmel Bogrette was pleased to see that construction bids came in lower than estimated construction costs. When completed, the two buildings on opposite sides of Suplee Road in Honey Brook, PA (Chester County), will provide all of the Township’s services from one municipal campus. Honey Brook Township originally selected Kimmel Bogrette to plan and design a new Public Works garage to replace the aging shed behind the Township Administration building. After design options and associated costs were presented to the Township, the decision was made to build a new Public Works facility at the existing site and demolish the existing Township building. A two-acre parcel across the street was purchased to be the site of a new Township Administration building. The new buildings incorporate a variety of “green building” elements and were designed to meet the standards for LEED Silver status. Renewable energy features include ground-mounted solar panels, wind turbines, grey water recycling, and a geothermal heating and cooling system. The new Township buildings are expected to be completed by June 2009.
